It is peculiar to think this dog was born barely a century ago in the Yorkshire region in England. We used these dogs to restrict the rats population. It comes from several crossbreeding. A little bit of Bichon Maltese, of Daddie Dinmont Terrier, from Skye and terrier of Manchester. The Yorkshire was recognized by the British Kennel Club in 1886.

Brought to the United States around 1880 and with bad reviews, he was viewed as having no future. In Canada, we would register the first Yorkshire-Terriers in 1888 and 1889.

Today, his trade of ratter to becoming a pet, he is the most popular dog in the world.
